Objective:

To explore the issues on how public-private partnership in HIV/AIDS prevention activities in Bangladesh could be broadened, strengthened, accountable and transparent.

Goals:
  • Providing government with simple easy-to-understand information about how HIV/AIDS prevention programs with GO-NGO collaboration to be more cost-effective;
  • Strengthening the voice of community to raise their demand for good governance in HIV/AIDS sector;
  • Strengthening service providers’ responsiveness in HIV/AIDS prevention activities to facilitate citizens’ participation and involvement.
Visionary Output:
  • Tools would be developed on the basis of the results of the study for policy advocacy at policy, media, service providers and citizen level for transparency and accountability in HIV/AIDS and other development sector.
Prize Giving Ceremony Held at Shariatpur:

CEDAR organized an Essay Competition on "Durnitir Bistar Rodhe Torun Projonmer Koronio" among the secondary-level students of Shariatpur district on the eve of Independence Day- 2008. 270 numbers of students have taken part into the competition. The Prize Giving Ceremony of this competition was held on 26 August 2008 at Circuit House Auditorium of Shariatpur. The District Commissioner of Shariatpur Mr. Moha. Anisur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of District Taskforce & Joint-Force Major Kazi Zaheer and Executive Director of CEDAR Mr. Md. Shafiqul Alam were present in this ceremony. First, second and third winner of the competition were awarded with prize-bond of amounting Tk. 10,000.00, Tk. 7,000.00 and Tk. 5,000.00 respectively. Besides, another 50 competitors are also awarded with 3 books each as complementary winners.

Recent Activities on Women & Children Development:
  • Training of the Community Health Promoters under MCH-FP Program of CEDAR at Aarikhola of Kaliganj Upazila under Gazipur district has been held throughout the month of June 2008.
Present Events against Corruption:
  • Inaugural Ceremony of this website has been held on 30 April 2008. Lt. General Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury (Retd.), Honorable Chairman, Anti Corruption Commission has inaugurated the website as the Chief Guest at the occasion.
  • CEDAR has been organizing an Essay Competition titled "Durnitir Bistar Rodhe Torun Shomajer Koronio" among the secondary-level students of Shariatpur and Munshiganj district. About 500 students of Shariatpur and 300 students of Munshiganj district have submitted Essay.
  • Prize Giving Ceremony of this competition organized at Shariatpur district will be held on 26 August 2008 at 10 am in the Auditorium of Circuit House of Shariatpur. The District Commissioner (DC) of Shariatpur has given kind consent to present on that occasion as Chief Guest. And the Prize Giving Ceremony for Munshiganj would be expected to hold in the 1st week of August 2008
  • CEDAR has been continuing round-table conference, workshop, discussion and view-exchange meeting among local civil society members, elected representatives and state actors aiming at building awareness on corruption and its negative impact on development, and good governance at Shariatpur district.

  • Encouraging future leaders by attaining the Declaration Against Corruption (DAC) of the University-level students to make pledges against corruption and foster network among those who take the pledge at home and abroad using e-forums
